Matt Seracki and
Gabriel Guarin gave a glimpse of what lie ahead for the HU men's tennis team with singles wins Saturday at Bethel. The juniors each won their matches and the doubles pair of
Cody Jahrig and
Mark Johnson were also triumphant in the Pipers' 6-3 loss to Bethel at the One Orth Athletic Complex Saturday.
Seracki shook off a 6-4 loss in the initial set for 7-6 and 10-5 wins at No 5. Guarin had a slightly easier time of it, winning his No. 6 match, 6-3, 6-4. Jahrg and Johnson took an 8-5 decision at No. 3 doubles. Johnson had a shot at a singles triumph with a 7-6 win in his first set and a 2-1 lead in the second set when he had to retire due to injury,
HU is 7-10 overall, 2-6 in the MIAC. They close out the season April 30 against Macalester at the U of Minnesota indoor complex. The match begins at 3:00 p.m.
