It has been well known for a while that Jake Trondson and Elias Ramirez are rugged customers at No. 1 and 2 singles for the Hamline men's tennis team. A third worry is quickly appearing on the horizon for Piper foes in the form of freshman Tou Ger Xiong. The St. Paul native was in fine form Saturday winning both his singles and doubles matches as the Pipers made it four wins in five tries with 8-1 wins over Northwestern and Wartburg at Baseline Tennis Center.

Xiong (pictured) improved his singles mark at No. 4 to 6-7 with a pair of straight set wins, losing just two games along the way. He also teamed with Trondson at No. 1 doubles for a pair of wins -- both by 8-3 margins. Trondson, Ramirez, Nazeer Robinson and Andrew Argeros also won twice each at singles for HU. Gabriel Lopez won a singles matches and teamed up with different partners for a pair of doubles wins.

Hamline is 7-7 overall. The seven overall wins is one shy of last year's final total of eight.

Hamline returns to the court April 5 at St.Mary's.
