Trondson Ends M Tennis Season on Double Win Note

4/29/2019 11:38:00 AM

Jake Trondson exited the 2019 Hamline men's tennis season the way he came in -- on a winning note.

The junior won his No. 1 singles match against Bethel with a pair of 6-2 wins and teamed with Tou Ger Xiong for and 8-2 win at Nol. 1 doubles. Although several other matches were very close, that was it in a season ending 7-2 setback Sunday.

Trondson finished the season with a 16-3 won-loss record in singles. He and Ger Xiong were 10-3 as a doubles pair. Elias Ramirez had an outstanding first season with a 15-5 won-loss, mainly at No. 2 singles. Unfortunately, the final match was a hard fought three set loss with the final game going to 15-13. Andrew Argeros was another hard luck loser, losing his third set by a 10-7 count. Cory Penick and Nazeer Robinson went down swinging as well in an 8-6 doubles loss.

The Pipers, who had just one senior (Levi Duwenhoegger) on the team, finished the year with an 8-12 overall record. HU was 1-8 in MIAC matches.
