Despite having their seasons cut short, the Hamline athletic department would like to recognize and honor the 2020 senior spring class of student-athletes. These 37 individuals have made a lasting impact on their program and the Hamline campus as a whole. Every day for the next few weeks, please check back to this page as a new senior will be added each day.

Beth Parlin  |  Track and Field  |   Exercise Science Major
Beth Parlin was a hurdler on the women's track and field team and was in the middle of a breakout senior season for the Pipers. Parlin has competed in both the Indoor and Outdoor MIAC Championships for the past three seasons, making consistent cuts to her times each year. In 2018, Parlin placed 22
nd in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 10.26. This past year at the Indoor Championships, Parlin scored for Hamline, placing seventh in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.68. She set a new personal record in the event this season, with a time of 9.32. As well as scoring in the hurdles this past year, Parlin was also part of two relay teams that earned points for the Pipers. She helped the 4x200 relay team to a third-place finish with a time of 1:48.22, which was good for all-conference honorable mention honors, and was also involved in the 4x400 relay that placed seventh with a time of 4:12.69. On campus, Parlin was an active member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and Hamline Orchestra.

What were you most looking forward to for this spring season?
I was looking forward to competing in the 100-Meter Hurdles at the MIAC Conference Championships.
Â
What is one of your favorite memories of your time at Hamline?
My favorite memory was watching our team come together this year. Our team chemistry has struggled a little bit in past years, but this team worked really well together and got to be pretty close and we all supported each other really well.
Â
Who is someone that has had a positive impact on you during your time as a student-athlete?
My advisor, Jenn Robb. She taught me so much about every aspect of training and how it's so much more than just the physical aspect, and what to do to improve this in order to succeed as a student-athlete.
Â
What are your plans after graduation?
I'm going to pursue my master's degree in strength and conditioning.
Â
What is your advice for your younger teammates?
Cherish every moment you have where you're at and always work your hardest, even through tough times. Someday you'll look back and wish you had more time.
Â
What are you most proud of about your career as a student-athlete?
I am most proud of cutting nearly a second off my 60-meter hurdles race my senior year and making finals at the MIAC Indoor Championships.
