Pipers Compete at ITA Midwest Regional

SAINT PETER, MINN.—The Hamline University men's tennis team competed at the ITA Midwest Regional on October 1-2, hosted by Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minnesota.

The ITA singles draw saw Sam Thompson drop a 6-0, 6-4 decision to Luther's Nyathi Motlojoa.

The ITA doubles bracket resulted in a first-round victory for Sam Thompson/Elijah Krause, who took down Tim Peters/Peter Naylor from Concordia (Wis.) 8-6. They advanced to face Luther's Nyathi Motlojoa/Max Loen, where they dropped an 8-1 score. Isaac Hultberg/Dominic Warzecha fell 8-1 to Bethel's Erik Beckers/Jason Reilly in the other Hamline first-round match.

The Pipers picked up two first-round victories in the Midwest Open singles bracket courtesy of Elijah Krause's 7-5, 6-4 win over Gustavus's Will Miller, and Dominic Warzecha's 6-0, 6-1 win over Wartburg's Jack Veber. The Midwest Open doubles bracket resulted in no victories for the Pipers.

All consolation play was canceled due to weather.
