ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Macalester College track and field team hosted the Vanessa Seljeskog Classic in the Leonard Center. The Pipers had 20 individuals score between the men's and women's teams at the event.
11 women and 9 men brought the Pipers points in the second meet of the season, where the women finished 3rd (109.50) and the men finished 4th (64). First Year
Anabel Bradley led the pack in the 800 meter run, finishing with a time of 2:34.10, while
Alicia Maddux (2nd) and
Libby Roberdeau (4th) finished at 5:34.99 and 5:46.67 in the mile run, respectively.
Andreiana Aurelius finished with a personal-best performance of 27.77 in the 200 meter dash, and Tera McMahon added 9 points to the team's total with her 3rd place long jump marked at 5.09m and 60 meter dash time of 8.18, good for 6th place.
In the weight throw,
Madison Reed (15.51m) and
Lexi Brainer (15.21m) landed in the top two spots on the podium, while
Molly Meyers joined Reed at the top in the shot put with a throw of 12.46m.
On the men's side, the field events led the charge. Junior
Michael Braun bested the competition in the triple jump, landing 13.07m from the board, and came in second in the high jump with a height of 1.83m.
Iain Lee jumped 6.06m to finish 3rd in the long jump, and
Oliver Engstrom finished in 2nd in the pole vault with a height of 4.10m.
Rounding out the top-three finishes for the men's squad was
Raul Ortiz, who finished the 400 meter dash in 2nd place with a time of 53.84.
The Pipers will travel to Northfield on January 26 and 27 for the St. Olaf Invitational.
