SAINT PAUL, MINN.—The Hamline University men's track & field team competed at the Macalester Vanessa Seljeskog Classic on Saturday, where they took second place with 191 team points. Macalester claimed the team title with 207 points.Â
Ricky Kwabena Yawson tied his school-record time of 6.95 in the 60-meter dash finals, good enough for first place. He qualified for the finals after he notched a 6.99 in the 60 meter dash prelims. Kwabena Yawson kept the first-place trend going with a 22.69 in the 200 meter dash. Dawson Schaffer was next with second-place times of 23.21 in the 200 meter dash, and 7.09 in the 60 meter dash. Lightner's career-best 23.93 in the 200 meter dash secured him fourth place.
Jackson Lightner registered a first-place time of 8.69 in the 60-meter hurdles, while Morris Suah followed in second place with a 8.80. The 1 mile run was all Lucas LiaBraaten, who crossed the finish line at 4:37.20 en route to first place.Â
Isaiah Watson (6.05m), Iain Lee (5.89m), and Lightner (5.82m) occupied the top three spots on the long jump podium. The Pipers also swept the high jump podium courtesy of Gueye (1.75m), Colten Eggleston (1.70m), and Lee (1.65m).Â
Abdoul Gueye prevailed with a career-best, and first-place leap of 13.08m in the triple jump. Austin Schloeder won the pole vault title with a 4.30m.
David Couper notched a 57.72 in the 400 meter dash, good enough for second place.
The Pipers will compete at the Luther Invitational on Saturday, February 8.
