Piper Track & Field Has Strong Showing at Carleton Meet of the Hearts

NORTHFIELD, Minn. --- Hamline men's and women's track and field put together a strong day at Carleton's Meet of the Hearts, highlighted by multiple event wins and several top-three finishes across both the track and field events.

The Pipers found early success in the hurdles and sprints, as junior Morris Suah captured the men's 55-meter hurdles title with a winning time of 8.01. Freshman Jukari Blackshere continued his impressive rookie season by placing second in the men's 55 meters (6.61) and adding a fourth-place finish in the 200 meters (23.12). On the women's side, Alexi Schneider and Claire Siems posted back-to-back top-four finishes in the 55 meters, placing third (7.55) and fourth (7.56), while Schneider also took fifth in the 200 meters (27.29).

Hamline also turned in standout performances in the jumping events. Senior Josiah Budiman won the men's long jump with a mark of 6.52m, while freshman Rufus Zulu placed second (6.38m) and Isaiah Watson finished fourth (6.35m). Watson added another event win in the triple jump, taking first with a mark of 14.49m, which ranks among the top marks in Division III this season. In the women's high jump, Frankie Witham placed fourth with a clearance of 1.48m.

In the field events, senior Lexi Brainer led the women's throwers with a pair of victories, winning the shot put (11.97m) and the weight throw (15.99m). Brooke Tracy added a third-place finish in the weight throw (14.15m), while Eddie Herman paced the men's throwers with a fourth-place finish in the shot put (13.31m).

Hamline closed the meet with strong relay performances, as the women's 4x200 relay team captured first place in 1:49.60, and the men's 4x200 relay team added a fifth-place finish (1:34.45), rounding out another successful meet for the Pipers.
