It didn't end the way they wanted it to. But the HU men's hockey team went out with guns blazing in a their 4-2 loss at UW-Stevens Point in the NCAA D-III men's ice hockey quarterfinals Saturday night.

And one of the most impressive Pipers was soph goalie John Sellie-Hanson. The Fargo, ND native kicked away 35 shots -- 17 in the second period alone -- as Hamline chased the Pointers all night. The game remained up for grabs until the Pointers scored an empty net goal in the waning moments. 

Sellie-Hanson finished the season with a 2.85 GAA and a .916 save percentage. That knocked a full goal off the numbers of a year ago and improved the save percentage by .04. It was all part of the major improvement for the Pipers, who went from 2-22-1 a year ago to 14-11-4 and their second NCAA playoff berth ever. 

That;s something to relish as HU starts to look ahead to the 2015-16 season.
