NORTHFIELD, Minn. - The Hamline women's track and field team competed at the Meet of Hearts in Northfield on Saturday, taking second place with 118 points. This was only two points behind Carleton, who won the meet. As a team, the Pipers compiled 19 finishes in the top eight, with three event wins throughout the day.
 
Sophomore Alexandra Maddux set a new school record during the meet, running the 1000-meter race in 2:57.04 to take first place for HU. This was a 10 second personal best for Maddux. Junior Helen Dolan also broke the previous school record, coming in second place with a time of 2:58.09. Their times rank first and second in the MIAC, respectively.
 
The Pipers also had three other finishers in the top-eight in the 1000-meter, as first year Emily Danzl took fifth (3:21.58), first year Charlotte Adams took seventh (3:29.92), and first year Klaire Petersen took eighth (3:39.44).
 
Senior Elizabeth Parlin won the 55-meter hurdles with a time 8.90 and junior Elizabeth Peterson also was in the top-eight, finishing in 9.59 which was good for sixth place.
 
Peterson had a pair of other finishes in the top-eight as well, placing second in the high jump (1.57 meters) and fifth in the pole vault (2.91 meters).
 
In the triple jump, senior Abigail Van Goethem took home a first-place finish with a mark of 10.73 meters. First year Noell Jellison finished eighth in this event with a distance of 9.46 meters. Van Goethem added a seventh-place finish in the long jump as well, with a leap of 4.72 meters.
 
In the weight throw, the Pipers had three of the top-four finishers, with junior Nyjah Willis winning the event (16.50 meters). Sophomore Alexandra Kolstad came in second place (14.35 meters) and sophomore Madison Fiecke took fourth (13.82 meters).
 
Senior Briana Berninghaus placed second in the 55-meter dash for the Pipers with a time of 7.36, with first year Essence Boe coming in not far behind with a time of 7.63 for a fifth-place finish. Boe also finished fifth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 29.21.  
 
In the 4x200 Relay, Berninghaus, Van Goethem, Parlin, and Boe teamed up to finish second with a time of 1:50.10.
 
Hamline competes next weekend, with some athletes competing at the U of M Cold Classic and some competing at the St. Olaf Invite on Friday, February 21.
