NORTHFIELD, Minn. - The Hamline men's track and field team placed fifth out of eight teams this weekend at Carleton's Meet of Hearts, compiling 87 points in the meet. The Pipers had 15 performances in the top eight, including two event winners.

Sophomore
Aric Brodie won the 1000-meter race with a time of 2:38.98, which was 0.01 seconds off his season's fastest time that he set at the MSU Open on January 31. First year
Ethan Smith also scored in the event, with a seventh-place finish (2:56.58).

Zach Angstman had the other win for HU, taking first in the 55-meter hurdles with a time of 8.23. Junior
McKail Hertzog and sophomore
Joel Peterson were also within the top-eight, as Hertzog took fourth (8.85) and Peterson took sixth (9.84).

The Pipers also had three people finish in second place throughout the meet. Junior
Frank Gustafson took second in the 1 Mile Run, posting a new season-best time of 4:14.76 which ranks fourth in the MIAC so far this season.

Jarick Rieffer placed second in the high jump, reaching 1.87 meters and senior
Dylan Larson added a second-place finish in the weight throw with a distance of 15.23 meters. Both sophomore
Lucas Doyle and senior
Dylan Rioux also placed in the top-eight in the weight throw, as Doyle took fourth (13.39 meters) and Rioux took seventh (12.83 meters). First year
Nikita Lutoshkin narrowly missed scoring, taking ninth with a distance of 11.49 meters.

In the 800-meter run, junior
Ben Roen took third with a time of 1:58.05 and in the 600-meter run, junior
Matt Lorah took sixth with a time of 1:31.25.

Rounding out the scoring for HU was junior
Remington Brisbois who placed seventh in the 200-meter dash (24.10) and sophomore Thomas Ambert who took sixth in the triple jump (11.80 meters).

The 4x400 Relay team also scored for the Pipers, taking third as Brisbois,
Henry Dolan,
Tyler Gallagher, and Hertzog finished the race in 3:38.24.

Next weekend Hamline will have athletes competing at both the U of M Cold Classic and the St. Olaf Tostrud Classic.
