MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. --- Hamline men's and women's track and field competed against a deep field at the Jack Johnson Classic at the University of Minnesota, turning in several top finishes, personal records, and nationally ranked marks.
The women were led by senior Aliyah Robran, who placed third in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 10.19 and followed with a season-best fifth-place finish in the 200 meters (27.53). Junior Brooke Baumann had an impressive all-around meet, recording a personal-best in the 60-meter hurdles (10.70), winning the high jump (1.25m), and adding a personal-best fifth-place finish in the shot put (10.15m). On the track, Anabel Bradley continued her strong season with a fourth-place finish in the 800 meters (2:21.33), while senior Alicia Maddux earned a runner-up finish in the mile with a personal-best time of 5:27.49.
On the men's side, senior Austin Schloeder claimed another pole vault victory with a clearance of 4.50m. Sophomore Isaiah Watson added a third-place finish in the triple jump at 14.29m, while Eddie Herman anchored the throws with a runner-up finish in the shot put (13.13m) and a fifth-place effort in the weight throw (13.70m). Freshman Jayden Rentz impressed in the distance events, placing fourth in the mile with a personal-best time of 4:50.25. Lucas LiaBraaten and Wade Tuggle were the lone long distance runners that attended the St. Olaf Invite to run the 5000m. LiaBraaten placed tenth in the field of forty-five with a personal-best time of 15:34.92. Tuggle also came away with a PR time, finishing in 16:48.06.Â
A major highlight of the meet came in the women's weight throw, where senior Lexi Brainer placed fifth overall with a personal-best toss of 17.71m, a mark that ranks fourth nationally in Division III. Her mark also broke an over two decade old school record, set in 2000 by April Felt with a toss of 17.66m.Â
Overall, the Pipers gained valuable experience and momentum, continuing to improve each meet the compete in! Next up, the Pipers will head down to Decorah, Iowa on February 7th to compete in the Luther Invitational!Â
