Technically, last weekend's ITA/Gustavus Invitational tennis tournament didn't mean anything. But it meant a lot of HU head coach Jon Henning and sophomore Maggie Gibson. The Wisconsin native staked her claim to being on the folks Henning will rely on next spring with a win at singles and another one at doubles in the prestigious St. Peter event.

Maggie got off to a good start with a tense 7-6 (4), 7-6 (3) win over Carthage's Emily Kratz in her opening match. She hung tough with St. Mary's Megan Vandenberg before losing, 6-3, 6-2 in the quarter finals. (Vandenberg would go on to the finals before falling.)

On the doubles side, Maggie, the lone HU double winner on the weekend, teamed with Emily Butler for a 8-5 win over Grinnell's Becca Richman and Shannon Hautzinger before falling to the pair who would go on to win the title -- the UW-Whitewater pair of Rachel Siemon and Alex Talyansky.
