Scoring first proved to be the theme of the weekend for senior forward Brandon Reinholz. The men’s hockey veteran broke open scoring for the home team in both games against Concordia College, with the team finishing the weekend 0-1-1

Down 4-0 in Friday’s matchup against Concordia College, the senior forward ignited a comeback midway through the third period with a power play tally off a feed from Jesse Kessler. However, the effort came to no avail, as they fell to the Cobbers 5-2.

The Pipers jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in Saturday’s opening period, with Reinholz netting the first and third goals of the game off passes from Drake Hunter and Chad Hennum, respectively. The Cobbers were able to fight their way back, as the matchup finished with an overtime tie at seven goals apiece.

The three goals on the weekend pushed Reinholz’s season total to four, and boosted him to second on the team in points with eight.

Reinholz and his teammates take a break from competition for a while as the Pipers are off until January 3 when they travel to Duluth to take on St. Scholastica.
